Adoption Fee:  $70.00 for a Dog or Cat

Our Vet performs a well check physical, de-worm , vaccinate, toe nail trim, Flea and tick treatment, administers a rabies shot, tattoo, microchip, and spay/neuters your pet before it leaves the shelter.  

An additional $3.00 fee is charged for a registration tag if the animal will be residing in Oak Ridge.

After adoption we require that the family take their new pet to a veterinarian within five days.

Dropping Off Animals

Please drop off animals before 4:30 P.M. Monday through Saturday.

A Pet History form must be completed for every animal that is left at our shelter.

Holding Time For Shelter Animals:

 An animal wearing a valid city tag will be held for a period of seven (7) working days from the date of apprehension.  Untagged, unregistered animals will be held for a period of three (3) working days.  Days are defined as days the animal shelter is open.

Animals given up by their owners have no set time they must be held.  These animals become the property of the City as soon as they are signed over.  See the City Animal Ordinances for further details.
