Oak Ridge Public Library Summer Reading Program 2009
The theme for this summer is Be Creative @ Your Library." Registration will begin on Tuesday, May 26th. The last day that children may turn in completed forms for credit is Friday, August 7th . The Summer Storytime programs will conclude on Monday, August 3rd and Tuesday, August 4th with the end of the year parties for those who met their reading or listening goals on Monday, August 10th. The completion parties will be held at the Outdoor Pavilion in Bissel Park with snacks, books and fun activities. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
Reading Program Children entering grades 2 through 8 in the fall of 2009 can participate. Children entering first grade who want to participate should bring a note from their kindergarten teacher saying they may do so without problems. Read 15 books on your reading level. Keep a list of authors and titles of the books you read and have a responsible adult sign your list when you have finished 15 books. These books should be ones that you have not read before and may be from the Library or a private collection. Bring your completed list to the Children's Room anytime we are open during the program. Those who complete the program will receive a special certificate and small prizes. The party for those who complete their reading goals will be on Monday, August 10th.
Listening Program This program is for children pre-school age and pre-reading level. Listen to someone read aloud 15 books that you have not heard before. Have someone keep a list of authors and titles of the books and have a responsible adult sign your list when you have finished 15 books. Bring your completed list to the Children's Room anytime we are open during the program. Those who complete the program will receive a special certificate and small prizes. The party for those who complete their listening goals will be on Monday, August 10th
