To Dance With the White Dog

Award-winning novelist Terry Kay was born in Hart County, Georgia, the eleventh of twelve children. He was raised on a farm and graduated from West Georgia Junior College and LaGrange College, earning a degree in Social Science, with extensive study in theater arts.

He is the author of ten published novels. His books have been published in more than fifteen foreign languages, with To Dance with the White Dog selling two million copies in Japan. An essayist and regional Emmy-winning screenwriter as well as a novelist, Kay's work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies. LaGrange College and Mercer University have recognized his work with honorary doctorate degrees.

On May 7, 2009, author Terry Kay received the Governor's Award for the Humanities in ceremonies conducted in the shadow of the state capitol of Georgia, honoring the accomplishments of a man who began his writing career as an errand boy for a weekly newspaper.

One City, One Book – Oak Ridge is a reading program designed to promote the joy of reading among the residents of Oak Ridge.  The mission is to encourage citizens of all ages, social, educational and economic backgrounds to read the same book at the same time and come together for discussion.
