Trying to decide if
you want an e-reader? Wondering if a Kindle is for you?
Come to the Oak Ridge Public Library Auditorium on Thursday, June
30, 2011 at 7 p.m. for a free and informational program on Kindles
and their features. Amazon has recently announced that Kindles will
be compatible with Overdrive, a company with which Oak Ridge Public
Library will be contracting in the future to enable its patrons to
have access to e-books. Sorry, no Kindles will be for sale during
this program. This is simply an informational session with
Michael McCutcheon, a “regular reading enthusiast” who is retired
from GM’s HR department and loves his Kindles. He and his wife, Lynn
moved to Oak Ridge, about three years ago for its focus on
education, culture, and its library. Michael’s mother-in-law, Mrs.
Smitherman, was a long term teacher at Linden Elementary. Michael is
a lifelong reader who cried when the card catalog became automated.
Even so, he has seen his reading double since he has had his Kindles
due to their convenience and varied features. He will bring both of
them so you can have some hands on experience with them. Please
register for this class by calling 425-3455 or emailing
CircLib@cortn.org by June 27, 2011.
