The FOL was organized in 1959 to increase the opportunities for the

association of persons interested in books and libraries; to

increase the facilities and services of the Oak Ridge Public

Library; and to enrich the cultural opportunities available to the

citizens of the Oak Ridge area. They do this by selling books and

other items several times a year at very low prices. Also by

organizing and funding the children’s summer program, and by

buying needed items for the Library that fall outside the annual

budget, such as the first two computers that appeared in the

Main Library, the Library security system gate, and a current

edition of Encyclopedia Britannica.

The FOL Book Discussion Group meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Oak Ridge Library Auditorium. Books are selected by consensus of those participating with a two-to-three month lead. You don't have to be a member of FOL to participate. For additional information, contact Pat Hope, thetwohopes@netzero.com or 865-425-7696.
