ORPD Assistance Grants

The Oak Ridge Police Department is applying for a grant opportunity under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Fiscal Year 2010 Local Program to purchase equipment for officers and pay for computer programs to aid in criminal investigations and crime analysis efforts. We would also like to purchase a photo identification system. Our agency is requesting the entire amount allocated for our jurisdiction, based upon the formula calculated by the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The amount dedicated to the Oak Ridge Police Department is $14,072.00. There is no local match required, therefore no cost to the citizens.

The equipment we would like to purchase is the Streamlight Stinger L.E.D. flashlights for all sworn personnel. These new flashlights would replace the current ones which are now several years old. Additionally, the grant would cover the yearly subscription for LeadsOnline and Command Central/CrimeReports.com, both of which assist in solving crimes in our community. Remaining grant monies would go towards the purchase of a Dual Side Kidprint/Employee Photo identification card system to be utilized by the Neighborhood Watch Program, Kid ID Program and to track personnel in the event of a local emergency.
