The newly-renovated Scarboro Community Center consists of a middle school size gym, full size kitchen with pass through window, small kitchenette, four meeting rooms, game room, and a Computer Lab. The outside park area includes a picnic shelter, one lighted multipurpose court for basketball and volleyball, one lighted tennis court, and one lighted softball field, plus a playground area for children containing multipurpose playground equipment.

The Scarboro Community Center, in conjunction with other community and non-profit groups, offers community centered programming through out the year. For more information about participating in these activities and/or cosponsoring other activities, please call Barbara Spratling at 425-3950.
Upcoming Activities The Scarboro Community Center offers senior education classes and other activities. These activities are usually held on selected Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with guest speakers as well as light refreshments. The education sessions consist of topics ranging from important health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure to more practical issues like fire safety and preventing falls. Also, on selected dates the seniors are invited to potluck dinners, breakfasts, movie nights, game nights and dances. Previous Activities Upcoming Activities The City of Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department offers free computer classes on a quarterly basis. They are held on Tuesdays and consists of 6 one-hour long classes. There are classes geared toward the beginner as well as to the advanced user. The beginning class focuses on familiarizing the user with the basic parts of a computer and their functions as well as how to use the internet, email, and word processing. Topics of the advanced classes have included Using Microsoft Word, Using Excel, and Using PowerPoint. Class space is limited to the first 10 respondents.
