Melton Lake Greenway Phase IV
Location Map
(Click on the above links for more information and a map of the area)
The trail would begin at the terminus of the existing Melton Lake Greenway Phase III near the intersection of Melton Lake Drive and Edgemoor Road. The proposed pathway would follow what remains of the old River Road that was replaced by Melton Lake Drive. The majority of the old roadbed remains extremely durable and should accommodate the low impact use from pedestrians and bicycles.
The portion of the old roadbed that parallels Melton Hill Lake measures approximately 3100 +/- feet and would require some refurbishment due to its elevation and proximity to the lake. Approximately 1700 feet of this old roadbed is underwater at the 794 water level and would require additional base material to raise the elevation 3-4 feet before capping with asphalt. The trail will turn southwest near the intersection of River Road and Old Edgemoor Road near the old bridge crossing and follow Old Edgemoor Road for approximately 1050 feet. From there, it will swing northwest and then southwest again and parallel Old Edgemoor on it’s northwest side for approximately 2100 feet. The trail will cross Old Edgemoor Road onto the southeast side and will follow an old logging road and contours southwest across the City owned parcel while staying outside the drip line of the TVA transmission line. The trail would then meander along established contours until it reaches a proposed trailhead parking area on Edgemoor Road . The trail would measure approximately 2.5 miles.

LaSalle Park Playground Renovation
Starting March 8, 2010 and continuing through June 8, 2010, the play area at LaSalle Park will be closed for Park upgrades. The playground will be replaced with new equipment meeting current safety and accessability standards. A new parking lot to service the playground will also be constructed. Should the upgrades be delayed by inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for a later date and the public will be given notice.
