About the Memory Magic Scrapbook Event. . .
The 2010 Memory Magic Scrapbook event will be held at the Oak Ridge Civic Center October 1-2. The event, sponsored by the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department, will feature a vendor fair, scrapbook classes, and a large crop area. Online registration will begin in August at
www.orrecparks.org.
Croppers will have plenty of time to scrap, chat, and visit with friends. The crop area will open at 8 a.m. each day, and those who have tickets to the crop parties will get an event place card so they can claim their spot for the entire day. Crop parties will be held both evenings from 7:00 to 11:30 p.m. Participants will receive goody bags, light snacks, tickets for prize drawings, and make-and-takes.
Along with cropping comes shopping! Participants will have plenty of time to visit the vendor fair and shop for many unique scrapbook-related items. Vendors include home party businesses, scrapbook stores, and general craft stores from all over the region. New products will be available, as will old time favorites. Many vendors will be opening at 9 a.m. each morning to accommodate the cropping area, which will open at the same time.
More than 30 classes will be offered at this year’s Memory Magic Scrapbook event, so participants can learn the latest and greatest techniques and try out the newest products. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. both Friday and Saturday. Among the classes offered, participants will learn how to create beautiful pocket pages to showcase their heritage photos; create awesome pages in a hurry and on a budget; learn little tricks to make a page shine; learn how to use ribbons, buttons, flowers, chipboard and jute to create one-of-a-kind pages; learn a creative way to display a photo of someone special; and create a gorgeous pages to celebrate loved ones.
