2008 Household Trash Pickup
The city-wide household trash pickup program will begin Monday, March 24, 2008. Household rubbish, old appliances (compressors must be removed from refrigerators and air conditioners), and minor remodeling materials will be picked up. Residents who would like their household trash to be picked up should place all materials near, but not beyond the curb.
Residents
are advised that there is a limit of one-truck load of material per residence.
A one-truck load limit is defined as one pickup truck
or approximately 3’ high x 4’ wide x 8’ long, approximately 100 cubic feet
maximum. Crews will not pick
up hazardous items, paint, tires, or piles of rubbish or trash that are mixed
with brush or limbs. Residents are
required to keep all materials off sidewalks, parking areas and out of gutters.
Every
attempt will be made to follow the enclosed schedule as close as possible.
The actual pickup day may change depending on the weather and the amount
of participation by residents. However,
residents are required to have all of their materials in place no later than
7:30 a.m. on their scheduled pickup day to ensure pickup.
Any materials put out after 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled pickup date may
not be picked up.
Brush
collection is scheduled to begin on April 28. A
new schedule will be provided in advance of the start date.
Brush and bagged leaves/yard clippings will be picked up during this
second collection. It should be
noted that bagged yard waste will be collected with the regularly scheduled
refuse collection throughout the year.
Residents have been very cooperative in the past and we ask for their continued cooperation this year. The household trash pickup schedule is also available on the City of Oak Ridge web site www.cortn.org. If you have any further questions, please contact Waste Connections of Tennessee at 482-3656.
