  Police Officer Trainee

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the protection of life and property, crime prevention and traffic patrol.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 18 years of age
  • Honorable Discharge from Military Service (if applicable)
  • Excellent physical condition
  • Excellent moral character
  • Free of criminal conviction record
  • Weight in proportion to height

Examinations

  • Written test
  • Physical performance test
  • Assessment Center and Oral Interview Board
  • Background investigation
  • Drug screening
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Medical examination

Hours:  12 hour shifts:  4 days on 4 days off (average 40 hours per week)

Starting Salary$831.20 biweekly before deductions

Salary Range:  $21,611.20 - $37,107.20 per year

Additional Information

  • Prior to appointment, must have valid Tennessee driver's license and a telephone
  • Probationary period is 12 months
