The local are met all ambient air quality standards until recently, when the US EPA began to implement more stringent standards for ozone and PM-2.5 The public drinking water supply, which comes from the predominantly rural Clinch River watershed, is proven through routine analysis to be of consistently high quality. The Tennessee Valley Authority Resevoirs that border the city on three sides, Melton Hill and Watts Bar Lakes, are safe for swimming and other forms of water recreation. |
