TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD Established by Resolution Number 8-112-85 as amended by Resolution Number 11-149-88. Composition: The Traffic Safety Advisory Board is composed of ten members appointed by City Council, all of whom serve three-year staggered terms except the Oak Ridge High School student. One member is nominated from the membership of the Oak Ridge Regional Planning Commission and one member is an Oak Ridge High School (ORHS) student. The ORHS student serves a one-year term of office. Officers are elected by the board from its membership and include a chairman, vice-chairman and secretary. A majority of the board constitutes a quorum for the transaction of business, and all actions require the concurring vote of a majority of those present. General Powers and Duties: The function of the board is to serve as an advisory body to City Council. In the performance of this function, it reviews any traffic safety issue requiring Council approval. Upon request, it also gives advice and assistance in other matters concerning traffic safety to City Council, the City Manager, the Planning Commission, or other bodies. The board is required to submit an annual report of its activities and recommendations to City Council, along with a recommended program of work for the ensuing year. Meetings: The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Municipal Building.
