HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES BOARD Established by Resolution Number 4-42-77 in accordance with Sec. 48-1901 of the Tennessee Code Annotated. Authorization for the creation of the Board was granted by City Council April 18, 1977. Composition: The Board of Directors consists of nine members appointed by the City Council for six-year overlapping terms, three members being elected every two years. Officers of the board are elected annually from among the directors and consist of a chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer and secretary. Five directors constitute a quorum. General Powers and Duties: The powers and duties of the Board are prescribed by the Health and Educational Facility Corporations Act of Tennessee. These powers enable the Board to finance, acquire, own, lease and/or dispose of properties to the end that the health and higher education of the people will be promoted. Bonds can be issued by the Board. Meetings: Meetings are held as necessary.
