BOARD OF PLUMBING EXAMINERS
Established by Section 9-151 of the Code of Ordinances of Oak Ridge.
Composition: The board consists of five (5) members, at least two of whom
shall hold a current and valid plumber's license from the City of Oak Ridge
if qualified applicants are available. The members are appointed by the
Council for three-year staggered terms of office. Officers are elected by
the board annually and consist of a chairman and secretary. In the absence
of the chairman, the board elects a chairman pro tem. Three members
constitute a quorum.
General Powers and Duties: The board establishes standards and procedures
for the qualification and licensing of master plumbers and journeyman
plumbers, subject to City Council approval, and authorizes the issuance of
appropriate licenses. The Board may also reprimand, and suspend or revoke
licenses for cause. The records of the board are available for public
inspection at the office of the Code Enforcement Administrator, Division of
Community Development.
Meetings: Regular meetings of the board are held at the Municipal
Building, if required, on the second Tuesday of each month. In any event,
the board shall meet within sixty (60) days of an application for an
examination to become a licensed plumber.
