Solid Waste Information
Residential
refuse collection is performed once a week at the backdoor and once a week at curbside
for recyclable items. The City contracts with Waste Connections of
Tennessee for the collection and disposal of residential solid waste.
Collection services include an annual household trash and brush pickup in the
spring and a leaf pickup in the fall.

The schedules for the following pickups are typically advertised in the local newspapers and can also be found here on our website.
Household Trash Pickup
Scheduled annually during the spring
Household trash, old appliances and minor remodeling materials will be picked up
A one truck load limit of material per residence (defined as one pickup truck or approximately 3' high x 4' wide x 8' long, approximately 100 cubic feet maximum)
Materials should be placed near, but not beyond the curb
Residents are required to keep all materials off sidewalks, parking areas and out of gutters
Brush Pickup
Scheduled annually during the spring
Yard clippings, bagged leaves, and tree limbs will be picked up (Yard clippings and leaves must be in plastic bags)
A one truck load limit of material per residence (defined as one pickup truck or approximately 3' high x 4' wide x 8' long, approximately 100 cubic feet maximum)
Brush should be placed near, but not
beyond the curb
All limbs should be placed with the butt end near the street
Limb diameter should be no larger than three (3) inches at any point
Crews will not pick up piles which have brush or limbs mixed with trash
Residents are required to keep all materials off sidewalks, parking areas and out of gutters
Leaf Pickup
Scheduled annually during the fall
Leaves should be placed near, but not beyond the curb
Leaves should be free of tree branches and twigs as these can cause the leaf vacuums to clog up
All leaves must be placed outside fenced
areas
Leaves are not to be placed in the street due to possible clogging of storm drains and posing a traffic hazard
Leaves in plastic bags will also be picked up at the curb during the scheduled program
Only leaves will be collected during this program

Anderson County Programs
Anderson County Solid Waste Management has recycling programs for Anderson County residents. Residents may recycle the following items at the Blockhouse Valley Center, located in Clinton:
| TIRES: With or without rims...from Anderson County Residents only. No limit to the number of tires residents may bring, but for larger loads, please contact the Anderson County Solid Waste Management's Office prior to delivery to the facility. | |

AUTOMOTIVE OIL/OIL FILTERS: Pour the used oil into a clean, empty, plastic container with a tight lid. Do not mix it with other substances, such as gasoline, paint stripper, or pesticides. Oil filters do not have to be drained. |

ANTIFREEZE: Pour the used antifreeze into a clean, empty, plastic container with a tight lid. Do not mix it with other substances, such as gasoline, paint stripper, or pesticides. |

MAJOR APPLIANCES/WHITE GOODS: Refrigerators, Freezers, Washers/Dryers (clothes), Ranges, Dishwashers, Air Conditioners, Water Heaters |

DRY CELL/LEAD ACID BATTERIES: Car, Truck, Motorcycle batteries; Non-rechargeable and Rechargeable 9-volt, D, C, AA, AAA, Nickel-Cadmium, Lithium, Silver-Oxide, etc. |
| PAINT: Latex and Oil Based Paint in 1, 2, or 5 gallon containers ONLY! Sorry do not bring aerosols, varnishes, thinners, stains, industrial coatings or any other household hazardous waste. These substances are hazardous and should be brought to the County's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. Contact the Anderson County Solid Waste Management Office for the date of the next event. | |

The Blockhouse Valley Center is located at 1480 Blockhouse Valley Road, Clinton.
The hours of operation are every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
These residential recycling services are provided by the Anderson County Solid Waste Management Office and is for the residents of Anderson County only. Sorry, no businesses.
Anderson County Solid Waste Management also offers a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Program 1-2 times each year. The event is typically advertised in local newspapers with the date and location information. Please call 463-6845 for further information. The following items may brought to the event:

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE is anything generated in the household that has a hazardous property. A material is hazardous if it is flammable, corrosive, toxic or reactive with heat or contact with other metals.
