The Equipment and Fleet Maintenance division is responsible for maintenance, service and repair of all City and School automotive vehicles, heavy equipment and stationary equipment. The Equipment Shop personnel are responsible for maintaining the city fleet, which is quite large. Most people do not realize how large the fleet actually is. It consists of 58 sedans, 69 light trucks, 63 heavy trucks, 39 school buses and approximately 305 pieces of various light and heavy equipment. The mechanics also maintain the service station, emergency generators, and gates at the Central Services Complex. The Equipment Shop mechanics have their specialties, but work on all types of equipment ranging, from lawn mowers and chain saws to heavy equipment.

The Equipment Shop has three subactivities:

Repair Shop - Providing repair services for all equipment

Service Station - Dispensing fuel and oil

Preventative Maintenance - providing routine servicing, washing , greasing, oil change and safety checks
