The City of Oak Ridge supplies about 120 Megawatts of electrical power to its customers. This power is purchased from TVA at a voltage of 161,000 volts (161 kV) at one of three delivery points in the City.

The power is transformed to 69 kV and enters the City's sub-transmission network. At one of five distribution substations, the power is transformed to 13 kV, at which voltage it is distributed throughout the City. At the customer's premises, the final transformation is made, normally to 120/240 volts.
